I started out at 1/4 tsp with 5mg of valium back in 1992 I think. I tapered up slowly over the years. I switched over to 10mg capsules in 1995(I think). I got my teaspoons mixed up with my tablespoons before an early morning flight. Oops! Now I take 40mg with 100mg topamax in the morning and 125mg topamax in the evening. My ex was a substance abuser and passed away recently and the valium made my son nervous. That's why I switched to the topamax. It's not addictive. I'm an ex-drinker so this is much better for me.KarenK
