Beginner prozac question

Posted by Def Bond on May 5, 2001, at 5:58:51

hi,

I've recently searched the Psycho-babble postings and was interested in
some advice please. I'm an american living in France and am having a
problem with stress, anxiety, and depression. Recently, I went to see
my general practitioner and he gave a prescription for an antidepressor
here in France called Ixel (Milnacipran), which blocks both serotonin
and noradrenaline reuptake. I tried it for a couple of days and gave it
up because the side effects made me feel bad. The side effects consisted
of vertige, nausea, and insomnia. Next, I tried liquid prozac, starting
with 2 milligrams. I felt confused and had difficulty completing
phrases, or driving a vehicle for two or three days. Previously, I've
tried celexa with similar results and gave up taking it too. Is there
any advice that you can give for starting an AD and getting through the
side effects ? My work involves writing software and I can't imagine
trying to work while taking this kind of medication. Also, do you know
anything about Milnacipran and if so, how does it compare to a drug like
Prozac ? It's really confusing trying to choose one of these drugs and
deciding to stick it through ... For now, I'm taking Ambien each night.
