SSRI's v's SNRI's

I was currently taking zoloft and then celexa(ciprimil) with too many side effects and was then prescribed effexor xr(SNRI). I have not started taking it yet and was wandering how the side effects differ, is it likely that I will have side effects from effexor as with the zoloft/celexa, has anyone been swithched from an SSRI to an SNRI.
