See all the evidence for Tramadol in depression

Posted by SalArmy4me on May 17, 2001, at 0:51:01

I have access to most every major medical journal there is via the Internet, with full-text to everything published within the last 10-15 years. I did a search of studies which claim to prove Tramadol is an effective treatment for Depression. I found only two studies--both of them extremely inconclusive...

Tramadol induces antidepressant-type effects in MICE
by Rojas-Corrales MO, Gibert-Rahola J, Mico JA
Department of Neuroscience,
Faculty of Medicine,
University of Cadiz, Spain.
Life Sci 1998; 63(12):PL175-80

Markowitz JS. Patrick KS. Venlafaxine-tramadol similarities. MEDICAL _HYPOTHESES_. 51(2):167-8, 1998 Aug.

Hey, check these out if you get a chance:

Leo RJ, Narendran R, DeGuiseppe B.
"Methadone Detoxification of Tramadol Dependence."
Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, State University of New York at Buffalo. Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment 2000 Oct; 19(3):297-

Potschka H, Friderichs E, Loscher W
"Proconvulsant effects of tramadol, its enantiomers and its M1 metabolite in the rat kindling model of epilepsy." Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacy, School of Veterinary Medicine, Hannover, Germany. Br J Pharmacol 2000 Sep 2; 131(2):203-212

Wow, with evidence like this, Tramadol is going to be the next Prozac (I'm being sarcastic)!
