I have taken Parnate on and off (mostly on) for 12 years. I have never found fatigue and weakness to be a side effect. On the contrary, Parnate is generally quite energizing for most people. The only significant side effects I have experienced are low libido and sensitivity to cold weather. Unfortunately, I believe it is starting to poop out for me. I started on 40 mg and now take 80mg, but it's not cutting it. However, back in 1988, it saved me when nothing else worked. Good luck.

> Are you sure the fatigue and weakness are the Parnate and not the depression? Parnate is usually used for very serious illness, since the dietary restrictions are pretty demanding and can be tough to live with. Talk to your doc and make sure you haven't just started to notice symptoms of the depression because you're feeling a little better. My understanding is that if you notice how crummy you feel you're getting well, whether from depression or any thing else.
> My experience of MAOI's was truly profound; my life changed drasticly for the better and I hope you'll get the same benefit. You just may have to lay low a little longer while it works its magic. Keep an eye on your blood pressure and be VERY CAREFUL with your diet. I never actually had much trouble, but a few M&Ms here and raisins there- it can stack up in your system and make you just miserable drooling sick. You'll learn quick.
> The quality of life MAOIs gave me was totally worth the trouble. Keep us posted.
