Hi All,
I thought I'd follow up after my posting of last July. The great news is I got off Paxil completely, and have had no signs of depression. In fact, I have never been happier. But getting off was another story -- a miserable nightmare, in fact. After I finally realized that I was going through withdrawal, I went back on in August and then eased myself off over a 2-month period. That worked much better, although I did get a terrible flu during that time. Once I got over the flu, my heart really opened up, and I found a new place to live in the country (much better for us sensitive people). Also, I have been regaining my health by taking Silymarin, Undenatured Whey and Sodium Alginate to cleanse my liver. You'll have to research these yourselves -- I took the advice of an environmental doctor and decided to try it then and there. I also got acupuncture and took freeze-dried Chinese herbs every day for 6 months, and that really helped me warm up (I was freezing, even in a California winter). All this while spending 60 - 100 hours a week working on a book. I just finished the book, and while I am understandably tired, I am still within normal range, balanced emotionally and physically. My acupuncturist has also given me a clean bill of health. Now that I am back to having time to exercise, and am cutting out cooked fats and sugar from my diet, I am losing weight steadily.
So that's it! My recommendation: get off the drugs if you possibly can, but do so very, very slowly and with the support of qualified health care workers who take a wholistic approach.
