SUCCESS WITH SULPIRIDE (Dogmatil) aka Amisulpiride

Posted by KS on May 1, 2001, at 12:49:16

In South Africa, sulpiride (Dogmatil) is very frequently and effectively used for depression and/or anxiety at doses of 50mg tds to 100mg tds. Anyone know WHY it works for depression/anxiety? It's supposed to be an antipsychotic but works for depression/anxiety in lower doses. Also, I see references to something called amisulpiride on the net - is this the same thing as sulpiride or something else? Fluanxol (flupenthixol) is another antipsychotic that works well for depression/anxiety but I am curious to know WHY; that is, what is the hypothesized mechanism of action here. I'd appreciate feed back on either drug.
Look forward to hearing from you.
