Rage I believe can be a form on mania--treatable by your mood stabilizers. Also, hormones can cause rage as can herpes outbreaks. My test is if I have a "mood shopping for a situation to pin itself on" then it's chemical. When I was on Effexor I completely lost my temper--meaning it went away. This was my normal temper. It was odd to just not understand what the fuss was about when other people became irritable. Of course, off the Effexor my normal temper came back. Mine hasn't been that bad normally, but meds can exacerbate it. Then I have to weigh the cost of the temper to my husband and kids and consider giving up the med. Good luck.
