Hi. I said I was surprised that notjulie's doctor started with celexa because she said her depression was situation related. I thought that prozac had less side effects, so I think of it as a good starting antidepression for situational or mild to moderate depression. That's why I said what I did.
Also, I wasn't sure if I was correct, so I asked for other opinions. (but didn't get any).Your husband sounds more severely depressed and his depression has been evaluated by his doctor. I assume he felt after meeting with him, the doctor felt he had a very good chance of success with celexa. Celexa has been very very helpful for lots of people.
So please, don't let my response to notjulie alarm you--it was in regard to her situation and also I am not a doctor.
I'm sorry things are so hard at the moment. Hopefully, now that your husband is hooked up with a doctor, maybe things will start turning around.
