I think Adrafinil is quite helpful for social phobia. After a month or so of treatment, it can be expected that quiet people will become more talkative, more social, and more active. Shy people become more outgoing. Though I like Adrafinil, I think it works best when tried in combination with either Prozac, Amisulpride, or both.I cannot compare Adrafinil to Nardil or Klonopin because I have tried neither of those. The only MAOI I did try made me worse real fast, and the only benzo I tried made me lethargic, less active, less outgoing.
I find one tab a day works fine. But I also take one tab Prozac and one tab Zyprexa. I think all three are contributing to my wellness. No single drug has ever worked as completely as this cocktail on my symptoms.
Concerning Modafinil, I hated it. Horrible. I couldn't believe it was so closely related to Adrafinil, because it seemed like a totally different drug to me. It was awful. If I had to make a list of my all time favorites, Adrafinil would be up there on the list. If I made a list of my all time worst duds, Modafinil would be there. I have a real hard time believing that Modafinil is the metabolite of Adrafinil. I don't think it is as simple as that. All I know for sure is Modafinil was lousy for me.
