I think its selective in the inhibition of serotonin--that's the difference. Effexor/Remeron combination is reported to be as effective as ECT; The side-effects are less, according to what I've heard and what I've experienced. I never had any side-effects on Effexor XR taking 375mg of it HS. And I never had this withdrawal bullsh--- that everyone else talks about.
