need of the straight plain old Ritalin 20mg sometimes, but it is abrupt and I don't like feeling medicated (recovery 18 years).
Concerta is actually a little machine. It is the shape of a tictac with flatend ends. It is coated with Ritalin. The outer coating of Ritalin is quickly disolved and absorded. What remains is a plastic gizmo that takes in water ozmodically as it travels down your gut. As it takes on water a tiny diaphram inside expands and dispenses Ritalin evenly, smoother and longer duration than SR. You eliminate the remains. (I've never been aware of it.) Crazy high-tech little pill. I was told that it even sqeezes out a little more in the afternoon than in the morning to counter the P.M. slump. I forget what the doses are, its odd, like 18, 36 and soon to be 54. I think I take the 36's. The outer coating is 7mgs or something and the rest is the extended release.
Just FYI I have worked up a cocktail with my biological psychiatrist. Prozac, Ritalin and Pindalol. The Pindalol seem to be the catalyst (for me anyway) that makes it all work, with out it I'm at a dead stall. It took me years to arrive at this. I would not recomend it to anyone as all these psychactive drugs are so idiosynchratic, but it is a godsend for me.
