In reply to feeling hopeless...what now?, posted by MicheleR on October 17, 2000, at 19:06:15
> In the past few years I think I have been put on about every anti-depressant out there....except MAO's. I responded real well to prozac for a couple of years, then my doc added effexor when I felt I was heading downhill quickly. The last week or so I feel like I am flying downhill....all I want to do is stay in bed, have missed several days of work, cant stop crying etc. I am also in therapy and I know that meds are not a cure all, but they have helped me survive and function in everyday life. Any recommendations on what to try now? or what to ask my doctor for? I dont want to feel this way...and I dont want to head down this road again. I know I have posted this before...but my current daily meds and dosages are: prozac 80mg, effexor 75mg, dexedrine 10mg, ambien 10mg, valium 20mg. Any ideas on medication changes that I can suggest to my doc would be appreciated. Or should I just "deal" with it and not expect for meds to make that much of a difference? sorry, I am just confused, dont like the way I am feeling, and wondering if anyone has any ideas? I want things to work and not to be given up on.

Hi, I've been reading some stuff and on a site "ask the pharmacists" at MentalHelp.com they say that sometimes lithium or T3 thyroid hormone added to an antidepressant might help. I don't know how reliable this is, but you might ask about it-- good luck, laural
