Hm, sounds like my mother, who loves to tell me that she gets depressed, too, but I don't see her staying in bed for weeks on end...

Other than telling you that you're not alone, all I can recommend is to find a good support group to go to, at least until you find yourself on the mend, and drag him along to it once you're comfortable there. There are a couple of national groups, Depression Manic Depression Association and Manic Depressive Depressive Association come to mind. I know that they have web sites, and I'm sure you can find hte nearest one easily.

A word of warning about groups like this, though: They are made up of other sufferers. Sometimes, well meant advice may not be as socially appropriate as the intent behind it. Don't expect miracles, just expect a group of people who can understand what you're suffering because they've been there too.
