It is ez. The symbols È, É, Ê, Ç are found by going to the "Character Map" which is at start menu/programs/accessories/system tools. You can use alt+ a number or copy and paste from the map. You may have to load the character map if you do not have in installed.
In German the umlauts, such as Ö or Ä can be written oe and ae; adding the e after the umlaut vouwel replaces the umlaut diacritical mark. Also
the double ss, in german it is ß, can be written ss.james
