Andre - Not everyone gains weight with Zyprexa, but it is far more than the 6% that the drug company reports (if I had to guess, I'd say that about 75% do get some weight gain). Very careful management of diet and exercise can help to minimize this side effect. The weight gain does plateau after about 8 or 9 months of taking the drug. The only real problem that I have noticed is that, like the SSRIs, the better the response to Zyprexa, the more likely you are to have weight gain. The sedation side effects usually subside after about a month.
