In reply to Provigil Trial Again Fails:I'm Off the Team, Rick!, posted by shellie on July 20, 2000, at 20:44:02
Shellie,
I wish you the best of luck with your Dexedrine trial.
Everyone is different of course, so what works for one person may not work for another.
I started off by taking 2.5mg of Dexedrine and felt incredible in a couple of hours - depression gone. When I took my next dose of 2.5mg, I started to feel "cloudy" and sleepy, the kind of feeling I experience when my dopamine levels are too high. I added 1mg of Stelazine and the "cloudy" aspect disappeared.
I now take 15mg of Dexedrine with a 1mg dose of Stelazine, twice a day. I have taken this combo for almost three years and haven't felt the need or desire to take more Dexedrine. The thing I would like to stress is I could not take Dexedrine alone - I need to take it with a dopamine reducer. Dexedrine by itself pushes my dopamine levels just a little too high. My "mood centre" requires dopamine but my "anxiety centre" can't tolerate too much dopamine.
I hope this helps in some way. Remember, I could not tolerate or was made worse by Ritalin, Cylert, Adderall and even the long lasting version of Dexedrine but I did respond well to the immediate release version of Dexedrine so your trial may surprise you!
Sincerely,
MichaelF
