Wellbutrin is what I'm on now. I like it. It helps my depression, gives me energy, and reduces drug cravings. It's a little edgy, and I take Buspar to soften it a little. The combo seems to be working. However, I've developed some frightening motor tics on the combo. I don't remember having them when on Wellbutrin alone. Both drugs effect dopamine, so I'm wondering if the tics have to do with the comined affect on dopaminergic neurons. It frightens me that in some literature, movement disorders are mentioned as a side effect of Buspar. Also, some have suggested that Buspar's antagonism of D-2 sites may give it the potential to cause permanent movement disorders (ie. tardive dyskinesia). Do you know anything about this? Should I take the tics as a warning sign of disaster ahead, or are they just transient effects of taking a mild stimulant (wellbutrin)?

> yeah, antidepressants can help balance out the effects of stims because that's what they do--they stablize mood. However, it probably wouldn't be all that helpful for an abuser and I know because I was one and I've been on Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, and Aderall. Wellbutrin works on all three neurotransmitters and is probably the next best thing. but as someone posted earlier, Wellbutrin doesn't "pull" dopamine out of the neurons like amphetamines
