I just wanted to mention a few things about diets that I think you ladies should know. First off, I am currently going to school to learn how to "help" people who want to better their current health status whether it be through nutrition or exercise. The program I am enrolled in is "Fitness and Leisure Management". Now I do not hold a phd in nutrition or anything but along with studying this topic, I have read hundreds of articles in bodybuilding magazines on nutrition and diets. I also compete in bodybuilding contests which requires a very strict 12 - 16 week diet so I have learned a thing or two about dieting.
Now unless one is training for a sport, I do not believe in diets. For starters, when one diets and looses a large amount of weight in a short period of time, they are loosing mostly muscle tissue and water - not fat. This is how most diets go - one diets until they reach their desired weight. They then go off of the diet and resume their normal eating habits. This yo-yo effect slows down the metabolism permanently. If someone wants to loose weight they need to gradually make changes to their diets. Every week, you change a thing or two to allow your body both mentally and physically to adjust to these new eating habits. You should not be looking for a short term diet but rather long term lifestyle adjustments. When trying to loose weight, you should be striving to loose a maximum of two pounds per week. Any more than this and the weight loss is mostly muscle and water, not fat. For every pound of fat you loose, a pound of muscle goes with it. So the next time you hear someone say they have lost twenty pounds, you can tell them they really only lost ten.
I could go on and on for hours so I will stop here. If any of you have any questions or need any help, just make a post and I will try to help you if I can. Hopefully the website you ladies are looking into gives good advice. Good luck!
