Yesterday, while in the company's restroom I witnessed behavior of one our customers that I found to be really intense (for lack of a better word). He came in, pulled off a paper towel from the dispenser, went to the urnal and did his business. He covered his hand with the paper towel and flushed, and then threw the towel away. He grabbed another one to turn on the water. He doused in hands in soap and proceeded to scrub his hands as though he was trying to scratch the skin off. Got more towels to dry his hands, threw them away, and grabbed another to turn off the water. Then he grabbed another to open the door to leave. Our restrooms here are immaculate. They are cleaned 2-3 times a day, and there is certainly very little chance of contracting any type of disease there.
I'm wondering if this might be a type of OCD behavior? I'm not critizing the man for what he did, I'm sure he had his reasons. But I have friends who have OCD, and I'm trying to learn more about it. I hope this will help me to communicate with them about OCD more intelligently. If anyone has experience that they could share with me, I'd appreciate it.
I hope I don't come off as being some kind of a "bonehead" here, I'm just trying to educate myself.
