Moab in October? How fortunate can you get! Whatever you do, don't miss the Arches Natl. Park just north of town. My last trip there was a a year ago camping with a class of seventh graders. We had a great time. October is a beautiful time of year to visit, as the sky is vividly blue and is such a contrast with the Entrada sandstone arches. The temperature is usually close to perfect at that time of year. Mountain biking (Fat tire festival at very end of Oct.), river rafting (on the Colorado) four wheeling and hiking are what the area is known for. Canyonlands is vast, with all sorts of scenery and adventures awaiting you. With limited time, I definitely vote for the Arches. One of my favorite drives is on the road that heads east along the river into Colorado. It is fun to drive with a five speed that handles well. Add a touch of hypomania - well, you get the picture. It's a pretty drive even when I'm depressed.
Just make sure you reserve some time for other than business!Bon Voyage!
