Lynne - I find Zyprexa to be an excellent medication, but the carbohydrate cravings are awful (sigh). Chris is right; you have to be extremely conscious of what you eat and have to be very dedicated to exercising (join a group - eg karate - that kinda forces you to workout) with Zyprexa. Stock up on celery sticks and those little baby carrots. Avoid buying chips and cookies (much to the chagrin of everyone else in the house). I know this is extremely easy to say and very, very hard to do. One bright light at the end of the tunnel is that the weight gain with Zyprexa usually plateaus at about 8 months. I am not saying that at 8 months you can feast at Buffet City, but the cravings usually subside. It is by far easier to keep off the weight than it is to take it off after it is gained. You really do not want to switch from a medication that is working so well for you. Good luck - Cam W.
