I have been taking Effexor XR since Sept. Prior to that had tried Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa and Wellbutrin. Effexor was the best, but just want to go back to normal - tired of taking drugs. Started weaning off of Effexor and have been taking 20 mg. Effexor and 300 mg day of 5-HTP for 6 days now. Will discontinue Effexor in 4 days. My concentration has improved and I feel great. My mood is good and is consistently the same. No ups and downs. Alot more energy and my sexual libido has returned. Feel almost normal except my concentration has not fully restored. But, it takes a couple of weeks to realize the full effects. Additional bonus is it decreases your appetitie. Hoping to lose the 15 pounds I've gained since September! Never heard of sam-E. Read a great book on studies done comparing 5-HTP to AD's which is why I am trying it. Hope this helps. Would be curious to know of anyone elses experiences with natural remedies as well.
