Sef,
With everyone else I'm so sorry to hear your news. I can sympathize--nearly the exact same thing occurred while I was seeing my first therapist (both a psychoanalyst and MD) several years ago. It's only in retrospect that I can fully comprehend how hard it was on me: my natural concern at the time was for him and his family, of course, but it's a very tough thing for a patient to go through as well. The best advice I can give is to allow yourself to grieve over this very real loss, but at the same time to make sure that you take care of yourself and your own state of mind. As bleak as the field may seem sometimes, there definitely ARE other dedicated and understanding doctors out there, and this is only what he would have wanted for you anyhow. Our thoughts are with you,
jd
