> I was on a different benzo- klonopin when I got pregnant. The research on this drug showed a slight (3%) increase in cleft palate defects, other papers showed no effect. I went from 4-6mgs/day to 0 in 2 weeks, with insomnia, panic attacks, and constant anxiety. This was a personal choice, my doctors did not push me. If you suspect you truly may be pregnant, start taking folic acid and speak to your dr. I wish you the best of luck.
Marie - Although there might be problems (albeit a small likelihood, but a likelihood none-the-less) if Ativan were continued throughout the pregnancy, I do not believe that the fertilized egg implants and you exchange blood flow for at least 2 or more weeks. Call your doctor or local public health nurse for more information as mine might be slightly erroneous. I think you will probably need the Ativan in this stressful time of waiting, but I cannot ensure safety in every case (I think). Any medication taken during pregnancy have risks as we don't do drug testing in pregnant women (for obvious reason). Again, call your doctor. Good luck - Cam W.
