> Cam, do you know if wellbutrin and zyban are exactly the same? Same concentration and all? Are they dosed the same, come in the same strengths? Is it possible for someone in a country where wellbutrin is not available (England) to substitute zyban, even if it means converting the doses somewhat?
James - thanks for the info. Cam W.
Noa - Here in Canada Wellbutrin comes in 100mg & 150mg doses, while Zyban is only available in 150mg doses. We only have the SR or "sustained release" formulation of both Zyban & Wellbutrin in Canada, but both are EXACTLY the same tablet, from the same machine. Our pharmacy association has warned us that they are NOT interchangeable because they can only be prescribed for the indications that Health Canada says they can (Wellbutrin for depression & Zyban for smoking cessation & prevention of smoking relapse). This is because Social Services will pay for Wellbutrin, but they won't pay for Zyban. This is a technicality, but one a pharmacist can lose his/her licence over. - Cam W.
