Question: Lithium Dissolved in Water?

Posted by JohnL on September 11, 1999, at 6:18:25

Can Lithium be dissolved in water to customize dosing? I did that when starting Prozac, drinking half a glass a day to start and the other half the next day. My first 300mg dose of Lithium was harsh. I plan on achieving a 600mg to 900mg level eventually as augmentation. I sure feel for full-blown manics who have to take upwards of 1800mg. Oh my gosh! Holy cow. I think I would rather take two staggered doses of 75mg - 100mg a day and work my way up. Dissolving in water would allow slower upward titration in small steps. Since it's just a salt I would think it's OK. Anyone know?
