Racer:
Do consider hospitalization when you clearly see that edge in front of you. Usually, it is true that there is nothing curative about psychiatric hospitalizaton. But there is much to be said for being 'warehoused' when it is warehousing we need;
at times--fortunately long ago now--I have had myself hospitalized simply because I felt that I was so paralyzes with pain that I could not take care of myself, that I needed to 'seek asylum' or sanctuary from a world grown dangerous to me in my vulnerability, like a political refugee with a well founded fear of persecution, torture, and death seeking asylum abroad.
The county hospital may not be your only option for finding a doctor. There may be varous local community mental health centers available; there are doctors in private practice who are patient about getting paid as long as they are convinced the patient fully intends to do his/her level best. And, frankly, recently I needed surgery I could not pay for at a private hospital
my internist had me admitted to; he gave me good advice: You need the operation and no one is going to send the police after you to collect your fees.
i don't like that and I will try my best to pay as much of the bills as I can; but.... (And I know someone who owes Dr. Bob's hospital $17,000 they will never get in full.)
