Thanks for responding Glen. I went back to my doc and told him about my concern and he asked me to try the slow release version of effexor, I did and it's been great! I guess the dosage level makes all the difference. I still can't sleep without a sedative but the anxiety is abating already and, strangely, the chronic back pain I've had for months has gone too, a good side effect I guess :)
