I take Parnate and haven't had any mania problems with it. I don't require a mood stabilizer, apparently; it's only certain meds that cause me to "switch."
Wellbutrin made me really anxious (I have panic disorder as well as depression BTW), and I didn't tolerate TCAs (which may actually be even *worse* than SSRIs for causing manic reactions in susceptible folks). However, WB is supposed to be the best AD to try for bipolars who need an AD because it seems to cause fewer and milder manic/hypomanic reactions than other ADs do.
