Yet another dream about PB/Dr. Bob!

Posted by Deneb on July 4, 2005, at 0:33:18

I took a nap in the afternoon and I had another dream about PsychoBabble/Dr. Bob. It was more about Dr. Bob, but it didn't directly involve him.

The last time I dreamt that Dr. Bob was the professor in a physics/psychiatry course in university. We were in his class and had to solve weekly case study problems using mathematics. lol

This time I dreamt that Dr. Bob ran a night club. He likes to party in his spare time. I wasn't in the club, but I saw some pretty wild young people drinking and having a really fun time!

Isn't this funny? Dr. Bob's a hip and happening guy!

Hehe, I wonder if dreams really do have meaning. I personally think they are just random thoughts, but they sure do seem to make some sense sometimes!

I have my own theories if dreams really did have meaning, but I'd like to hear yours first.

Give me some explanations people! This could be amusing to hear. :-)

You had a spy cam at Chicago in June!
Dr Bob IS a cool hip guy. Pretty quiet, just like a p-doc.

Hehe, I don't think I really think about him THAT much. :-)

Sometimes passing thoughts end up in dreams. I don't think it has anything to do with being preoccuppied with something or someone. I'm sure I dream up lots of stuff but I forget nearly all of it. I just happened to wake up at the right stage of sleep and remembered this dream.

> You know one thing i dont like is when he stares me down with his web cam....... CHILLS!

I remember there was one pic where he scared me. I even commented on it. Then just as suddenly the pic didn't scare me anymore, but was more soothing...because of all the greens. (I love green.) I think it was just the shock of change.

Yep, it's not nice to feel paranoid.

I think Dr. Bob knows how to have a good time.
:-)

You know, it is a myth that people who do well in school don't know how to party or are bad at socializing. I think he was probably wild while in school. LOL

Hmmm...that's odd...why do you think that p-docs are quiet? Because they are supposed to listen? Come on Dr. B, I dare you to break this unsubstantiated (IMHO) stereotype!

(Don't worry, you don't have to answer...I'm just teasing. :-) )

I've wondered about that too...
I think.. It is to avoid putting ones foot in ones mouth.
The less said the more what is said is taken seriously.
I think it is supposed to help prevent transference but I don't see how it isn't supposed to facilitate projection instead.

But then I'm talking out of my *ss.
I could never be a p-doc
I'd have to shut up for 5 minutes ;-)

Ok...what EXACTLY is transference??? I keep hearing about it on the psychology board. I don't read a lot of stuff there because it seems incomprehensible to me. I all seems like gobbity goop to me. :-)

Hehe, does that mean I can be a super p-doc because I can remain silent for days if I choose to?

OMGosh, that just reminded me of a time when a p-doc at the ROH really thought I was crazy because I chose not to speak. He made me tell him where I was and to count backwards by 7's! Thank goodness I paid attention to where his office was and that I'm relatively good at math despite being in total fear. I think I passed.

Hi, Alexandra,

I think it's supposed to encourage transference, not prevent it; however, Dr. Bob does not function as our psychiatrist here, so his reticence may be for other reasons.

Hrm. I'll have a go but someone may need to correct me. I think... It is when you are responding to something in the past rather than in the present. So... When I was little I'd get shut in my room in punishment for things I could not comprehend. I'd get shut away from society. So sometimes I have trouble seeing blocks in a way where they aren't intended to shut me away from people and where I can see what I did wrong and where they aren't arbitrary and senseless.

If I get really very upset... Then that indicates I'm responding more from past hurts than to the present situation.

Other people might have better examples...

Yeah. I remember the 'count backwards in 7's'. I remembered saying I couldn't do that before, so why on earth would they think a bang on the head would somehow enable me to do that?????!

I got to do 2's instead :-)

Yeah. Thats what I thought too.

>Dr. Bob does not function as our psychiatrist here, so his reticence may be for other reasons.

Yeah. Though I think he said something somewhere about it preventing transference...

Thats why I was a bit puzzled about that and about how it is supposed to help.

?????

I think we should give the guy a break. :-)
Maybe he's just a quiet guy?
