just got out of the hospital

Posted by smokeymadison on January 5, 2005, at 12:55:02

so i am out now. i spent six days on the psych ward. i am feeling rather empty and far away from everything. it is probably the new mood stabilizer. i should just take a klonopin and take a nap, i think. i have had a lot going through my mind lately.

i figured out that all my agitation was probably caused by my trying to avoid feelings of emptiness. that i now feel empty instaed of agitated is probably a good sign, i think. the agitation had lead to thoughts of suicide. i am stuck at my stepmother's parents house until this ice storm lets up. it will probably be Monday before i get home. i don't know these people very well and this is hard. they picked me up from the hospital and brought me to their house. i just want to be back in familiar territory and i can't be right now. i have to wait unitl my mom or my dad can take me home b/c my boyfriend and mine;s car is not starting right now. if it were, he chould come and get me after the ice storm. this sucks!

sm,
alot of us can relate to the distant "far away" feelings..
..nap nap nap.
you will be home soon..
what is worse than feeling out of control is knowing you have none..
rest..give yourself permission to be ill..
tomorrow is always a new one.

I've been wondering how you've been. I'm glad that you're out of the hospital, albeit not where you want to be right now. I hope you can go home soon where you'll obviously feel more comfortable. What new mood stabilizer did they put you on??? I ask because agitation is very much a part of me now and I HATE it. My meds don't seem to work for me the way I would like them to. Take your Klonopin and your nap. You'll be home before you know it. HUGS!!! Glad to see you back. :)

Maybe I should give that one a try. That's one I haven't actually tried yet. I know everything I have tried, including the one I'm on now hasn't worked. I'll have to discuss this with my pdoc at my next appt in a few weeks.

Have you managed to get home yet? I'm glad you're feeling a bit better.

just got out of the hospital again/smoking room

i went back to the hospital (actually a different one) Saturday. just got out today. my mood is just too unstable right now and the trileptal hasn't fully kicked in. the pdoc put me back on wellbutrin, and that is helping a lot! so now i am going to go to outpatient therapy for two weeks. the program sounds interesting.

but get this...they had a SMOKING room in the psych ward!!! if i ever need to go back to a hospital again i know where i am going!

Sorry to hear you're still having a rough time of it. Maybe the outpatient therapy will help you in that regard. How is the Wellbutrin doing for you? I just recently started it and I can't say that I feel any different. I hope you enjoy your OPT and things get easier for you soon.

WOW!!! Can't believe they have a smoking room. I think it is illegal to smoke indoors anywhere where I live, including bars.

Man, where do i sign up! Seriously...a smoking room in a hosp? that ROCKS!

(seriously though, glad you went back in if you needed to) i loved being on trileptal and wellbutrin. they worked great for me. hope outpatient works well for you. I am Very happy to hear that you have the presence of mind to help yourself. you are Very strong. btw, when i started wellbutrin last time, i quit smoking completely. didn't even have a craving. so now's the time if you want.
Best wishes.

We've got one at our local hospital. It got a special exemption from the law.

Yeah. Our hospital has a smokefree policy. You are only allowed to smoke on hospital grounds if you are a patient and you are in a designated area. All the staff have to hang out on the street (looks like a great role model thing to all the passers by!).

Only 2 exceptions:

Indoor smoking rooms on the Psych wards and the cancer wards too apparantly.
