For those interested in details about different foods, I recommend "The Complete Book of Food: A Nutritional, Medical, & Culinary Guide," by Carol Ann Rinzler. I don't know if it's still available (mine is an absolute mess), but it gives, for each food:
the nutritional profile,
a note about the nutrients in the food,
the most nutritious way to serve the food,
diets that may restrict or exclude the food,
how to buy it,
how to store it,
how to prepare it,
what happens when you cook it,
how other kinds of processing affect it,
medical uses and/or benefits, adverse effects associated with the food,
and food/drug interactions.

It is over 400 pages long and has about 150 fruits (including strawberries), veggies, legumes, and meats, as well as dairy, nuts, and chocolate.

Here's something from the book. Did you know that mango skin has urushiol, "the chemical that may cause contact dermatitis when you touch poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac"? (Never happened to me, but....)

If you cut into a mango that's not ripe yet, poach it in some sugar syrup, and it will taste great.

"Look for: flattish, oval fruit. The skin should be yellow-green or yellow-green flecked with red; the riper the mango, the more yellow and red there will be. A ripe mango will give slightly when you press it with your finger."

(Our Thai friends have given us a better way to tell: the skin has to feel like old leather; you can't really figure it out from that description, but when they hand you one that's ripe, you can tell what they mean.)

P.S. Okay, yes. I've gotten into the gooey stickiness of Social for a moment. And, yes, we eat a mango or two each week. (It's my daughter's and husband's favorite fruit.)

P.P.S. I prefer nectarines and cherries. I can even tie the stem of a cherry in a knot with my tongue.) (Don't get any ideas.)

Okay, I lied. The site is boring. » Ctrlaltndel : (

The problem is that it doesn't have the useful eating information and is more about growing.

Well..merci..:-)

Me, attractive?..Where you peeping in on me while I was in the shower again? ;-) (That would be scary..actually...lol!)

So, how come you have to go up and down with the Effexor? Is it possible at all to try augmenting it with something so you won't have to?

Believe me I know the Effexor 'dilemma'. It took me almost four years to actually get used to this med. I might recommend going to lowest dose possible..likely 37.5mg's...stick with it for as many months as you can, until you get almost zilch side-effects...then raise to 75. Your mmv of course, but I think you sorta have to force your body to tolerate it. That is where I think most have problems.

Let me know how you make out..okay?
Peace,
Jay (Thanx for the triple xxx rated kiss..right back at you...lol;-)

I lose that effexor feeling so lowering it I think gives a dopamine kick..more energy then anxiety creeps in so I go back up and it always feels as good as the first time I took it..the neurontin i take almost eradicated the withdrawals
