Sounds like some here are in a bad way?

Posted by ricker on May 23, 2009, at 18:28:55

Some recent posts are quite similar, and I've been in that position as well. For me, of all the meds that have helped the most, Zyprexa Zydis rules. It just plain stomps on the anger, anxiety and yes, depression. I take 5mg and within 1 hour, I can literally feel the negative, frightening thoughts and physical distress leave my body. It just plain stomps those symptoms, and does it quickly. I know my 2 month visit in the p/ward some 22 years ago would have never happened, if that drug was availabe at the time.

Yes, I'm well aware of all the negative reviews/ratings out there with regards to weight-gain, blood sugars etc. Remember, for every negative review, there could be 100 positive reviews, problem is, those that have found help with Zydis or any other med may not remark on their success?
They could be out living and enjoying their lives with family/friends? The negative usually gets the spotlight,IMO.

I'm not ignorant to the potential long-term effect of some meds, but if you need help, and you need it NOW, then please consider Zydis.

If it works, great, just use it until you're feeling better, or if you use it long-term, live a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise.

I don't have shares with the Lilly ;-) and I'm not one to try and force any given drug down someone, I'm just sharing my experience. For rapid and effective relief from Anger/irritability/anxiety/depression, I have found Zydis to be the most reliable.

Hope you all feel well soon......... Rick

Thanks Ricker! I did try this years ago (not sure of dose) but I had to call 911 from side of road when I was driving as it caused psychosis for me.... Not sure why this happens to me with the AP's but all of them have done this to me....

I'm not sure why A/P's would cause you to become psychotic either?
Are you saying that you never exhibit psychotic features, other then while taking A/P's?

What are your symptoms when taking them? Sometimes, very very extreme anxiety can be mistaken for psychosis, not to suggest your effects are though.

Take care, Rick

The psychosis for me was what I think has been referred to as derealization or depresonalization.... I felt like I was disconnected and was "tripping" for lack of a better description. I was very hopeful that Zyprexa, Abilify, Geodon, or Risperdal would be the answer but all 4 did this to me even in low doses,,,,

Okay, fair enough. I'm guessing you have tried Depakote and Tegretol?

Depakote helped me years ago when I was first diagnosed bipolar.

Oh, I just reread your other post and you have tried all the A/C's.
By the way you are describing yourself now, I would suggest getting a hold of your p/doc, or some other dr asap.

Also, yo did not say if you have tried an A/P with a A/C? Together, the A/C may prevent you from experiencing what you have described prior when on just A/P. You could also throw in maybe 2mg of clonazepam 3-4 times a day until you stabilize. That may sound like a large dose but it's prescribed at higher doses as a seizure med.

Heading out for supper now, keep well.... Rick

I'd try it in a second if I wasn't already trying to lose weight.
I seem to hear a lot of good things about zyprexa. I tried abilify and I was too anxious on it. I don't even know why my pdoc would try abilify on me. Overall I need something to dampen anxiety (hence the low dose seroquel). I also seem to get agitated sometimes (I hate that). I don't know why abilify would help with anxiety, but hey maybe it works for someone?

I agree, find what works for you, and run with it. I do not get the calming, motivating effect with seroquel, but do with zyprexa.

I've only had a brief trial with seroquel (4 weeks) and found the side-effect... muscle spasms, jaw pain and irritability not worth continuing the trial. I've yet to experience any side-effects with zyprexa.

And although zyprexa has a bad rap for weight-gain, elevated sugars and triglycerides, I think seroquel is a close second in that regard?

My theory is, if the drug works, I will feel motivated, ambitious and proactive. Meaning, while taking zyprexa, I'm afforded the luxury of staving off potential side-effects through an active lifestyle and healthy diet.

I did not feel that way on seroquel so I may have ended up worse off physically, due to lack of motivation and such.

Whatever the drug, if it "truly" works, living a healthy lifestyle should be easier to achieve, IMO.

Take care, Rick
