Dreamy _ In the usually therapeutic range (37.5mg to 450mg/day) Effexor™ (venlafaxine) blocks the reuptake of serotonin, and to a lesser extent norepinephrine. It can be classified as an antidepressant and anti-anxiety agent. It probably should be called a "mood modifying agent." In reality, Effexor has no real anti-psychotic activity, as it does not block dopamine-D2 receptors, which is generally the accepted definition of an antipsychotic agent. Blocking D2 receptors relieves psychoses. - Cam

What would psychoses be described as?
Hallucinations?
Hearing voices?
Schizophrenic episodes?

Dreamy - psychosis is characterized by a gross impairment in reality testing. The individual incorrectly evaluates the accuracy of his/her perceptions and thoughts and makes incorrect references about external reality, even in the face of contrary evidence (actually this sounds like the definition of a politician or those who act on the board of any professional licencing board ;^p). Psychosis is often characterized by regressive behavior (eg. withdrawing into oneself or "negative symptoms"), inappropriate mood (eg. mood incongruent behavior, such as laughing at a funeral), and diminished impulse control. Example of psychosis are what you have listed above (ie. auditory or visual hallucinations, delusions, etc.). - Cam
