I have a favorite pencil. I also tend to write in my head before I write anything down on paper. Once I deceide what I want to write or least a good part in my head, I write it down right away.
Sometimes it helps if I can think of a good metaphor and I go from there. But it also has to look good typed.What do you all do?

god, i wish i knew how!
i'm still waiting for that wonderful novel to magically appear in my head, on my screen, in writing, crayon, any way at all...
courage maybe? that's where the voice comes from?
i wish i had a clue. i'd be rich and flaunting it here :)

You just keep writing and the voice will come out if you have one. Not everyone can write, but everyone has a voice, but uses different way of expressing that. But to come up with a persona, now that would be fun!

Not everyone can write, but not everyone has a voice of their own either.
How do you judge authenticity?To begin with we copy the voices of others and over time we digest them and form our own identity; at least that's the way it should be.
The posting format here encourages me to try to try to find my voice by trying to find the strongest vein of feeling.
This leads to intransigent statements.Are all of us here personnas? Not unreal, of course, but partial?
What about a couple of personnas per person?
I would like to refute myself.

well, I have a whole list of starter subjects, starter sentences...they are often metaphorical
that I use for journaling
but if I ever write here it's likely just gobbly guk falling out of my head
the possibilities are endless!
I mostly write things on looseleaf paper and then throw them out!have you ever heard of "morning pages"?

"The God of Small Things" by Arundhati Roy. This writer is also an architect, and her writing is beautifully constructed. The voices in this book are very, very strong, very convincing. This is a favourite, worth reading more than once. I loved it.

Amazon linking here has been broken for nearly 3 weeks, give or take. Have not seen Dr. Bob around for quite a while. Probably he has not worked on the issue yet.
