Do you have any special rituals you use to write?

I have a favorite pencil. I also tend to write in my head before I write anything down on paper. Once I deceide what I want to write or least a good part in my head, I write it down right away.
Sometimes it helps if I can think of a good metaphor and I go from there. But it also has to look good typed.
What do you all do?
