treading water

Posted by zenhussy on March 13, 2006, at 16:12:37

not sinking but oh so tired from refusing to go under

how much is taken for granted by so many

securing shelter becomes the primary focus when everything else drops off after housing is lost

lost but not w/o a map or a plan

no long a plan that gives in to the distorted diseased thinking that plagued us for so long

still treading...thank goodness for years of practice

when can we rest?

Tips from a former WSI:

Alone, take off your jeans and tie the pant legs in a knot. Whip the pants over your head filling them with air to make a temporary flotation device. This helps until rescue unless you succomb to the cold first.

Together you can swim farther taking turns than separately, assuming your are calm and trust each other. Panicing is the worst thing you can do. One lays flat on their back (head must be back in the water looking up). Arms extended on the shoulders of the swimmer doing a breast stroke slowly pushing the partner towards land.

Non-metaphor advice, make those dependent on you, z, tread water for a while as you recouperate. I don't think they'll drown, and they may learn something in the process. I think you have tried this in the past. (((_z)))

I hope there's an island oasis within reach for you to find refuge.

When we're dead, that's when we can "rest".
I think you're terribly brave (((zenhussy)))

no ability to finish words completely or correctly either....

tossed the support net far and wide this time and came up with many folks with ways to assist now, this week, next month and beyond....by now this needn't be surprising yet still is....

...is it years of reality that filters this view? or reality of the many years that are the filter?

whatever comes will be as it needs to be....

let it be peaceful and safe....

just like those who are trained to tread water for long periods of time in colder temperatures....

brrrrrrrrrrrrrr even the movement doesn't keep the teeth from chattering....

Um, excuse me .. how many of there are you, not in sheer, massive numbers, but in people, right now, your circle, the ones that you need to survive...?

Sometimes going with the flow, that's the only thing that's left.
Just relaxing and accepting the good gifts given, accepting that we're more than worthy of all of it, all of the good in our life .. the bad is where we've become prisoners of the world ...
don't be a prisoner anymore, refuse to accept the circumstances.
Refuse.
Refuse if you can ...

the flow has taken much and the tide ceases to receed leaving much afloat

the good is being offered as this is being typed

allowing all in that can possibly help given the dire circumstances

accepting all that is safe and realistic for the future of this pack

prisoner of the system...prisoner of the game of assistance and medical care for the way below poverty line...no avoiding those facts

remaining medicated, remaining nourished, remaining healthy enough to eek out this gawd awful existence such that continued healing can occur, remaining is the only way of refusing in this fight

when money goes to storing "things" and one lacks a physical address there is something disturbing about the priorities involved at many levels

refuse? refusing to stay down each knock down that keeps coming. refuse?

too much work has gone into this model to ever consider ourselves refuse again

refreshing to be without deathwish

exhausting to live scurrying for shelter

terrifying to be w/o a net and still be the three ring circus

heartbreaking to have lost therapy *suddenly* as it was key support of rebuilding foundation

such is life and mental disease/disorder does not discriminate...nor does homelessness

mail sent with raindrops smearing the address

please use to remain in contact

no laptop means sporadic use of this medium if at all...the library here will do for a short while but after we must move on we'll be hit and miss...at least neighbours will forward on snailmail to wherever the fates take us

the blessings of friends and strangers has been incredible yet terrifying to accept gracefully

without support no matter where we end up we'll be lost if alone

(we even have your crazy stamps so you can respond...we'll pop in next envelope your way)

what's the longest you've had to tread water?

There's no question of my remaining in contact.

Well we may have crazy stamps, but at least we don't have monopoly money!
And we have kinder surprises..

but then there's that Celine Dion thing..

it'll be okay.
it will.

I'm going to e-mail you, and I'll tell you about my treading water.
And how I thought it would never be okay.
But
It is.
