storm
grey skies
faint haze of approaching rain
smell of spice
heavy on the dusking breeze
leaves
shiver in anticipation
sun glints in defiance
sighs
then nestles behind
one somber cloudthen comes the rain
thunder follows
inescapable
relentless herald of
lightning
mindless demon
burning path of destruction
in its wakeyet
in the fury of thunder
lies harmony
sonorous echoes
pour into every crevicein the madness of lightning
lies beauty
blazon bright
illumines the skyin the storm
lies peace
for always the sun
will follow

beautifully written! i like the way that you write that there can be clarity in the midst of chaos, or what seems to be chaos.

hi, greyskyeyes, 'the madness of lightning' I went mad for the 4th of july. blazing demon in my head. My best friend died a year ago, rather than mourn I went mad instead. I don't know if there'll be much sun for a while. I don't want to see the harm I've done. Even tho it struck mostly an empty space, the place I call my soul, it blasted some and layed to waste any peacepeace I've come to know....this is just tiredtired doggerel...glad I read this poem. I really don't know what to say except the lightning sure hit home.
thank god the pdoc has upped my dose because it's embarrassing to go mad. one does not have that right, it's all a fake. Well I showed them,
I skipped the family picnic. Madness is no excuse but god bless cardiomyopathy, heart disease is the perfect excuse.
Your poem happened inside my head. I know this sounds pompous and silly. It did me good to read a report of why I'm still burning. cockeyed.

Wow cockeyed, I had no idea my poem would be so effective. Just remember my friend, in the lightning lies beauty. In that vein, your madness contains hope for it underscores the sanity that follows. We all react to grief in different ways and each is valid. Mourn when you are ready and always remember your friend fondly. And skip ANY damned family functions if they bring you pain! Don't worry about "showing" anyone, do what's right for you.

hey, greyskyeyes, i like to write that name in full, does me good.
today we had a squall. Just one bad cloud but it screwed up all the traffic on I-95 [stay away from this sucker if you value your life] My wife, she's french, drives like a champ, so a little rain gives her free rein to vamp.
I saw something I've never seen, rainbows splashing from the tires of machines, and then a cop from Bridgeport, of all places, actually out of his car. And, I couldn't believe this, actually directing traffic around a mess.
Seeing him did me some good. Here was a cop doing what a cop should. Here in Ct. a squall can be a storm, and on I-95, a hurricane.
You know, I'm happy as a clam that you responded. Madness can be off-putting...whoa, is that a word...well, here I go off on a run, when one goes nuts, chasing words can be fun. Thanks, cockeyed.

> Thanks, cockeyed.Hi Cockeyed, just saw this today. What you said about I-95 made me laugh. I'm in the Washington Metropolitan area and take it to work every day. One cloud and the whole region comes to a standstill. Better not be around if there's a raindrop or two. As I type this I can see rain out the office windows... gonna be a fun ride home tonight.
Chase words with me anytime you want. :) How are you doing?
