Click of Glass Slippers on Silicon Chips
Sleek feline eyes of finest jade,
Emerald iridescent pools reflecting Oz,
Weep aquamarine tears
That leave bejeweled trails
Along porcelain cheeks
Framed by ebon tresses
Before tumbling from her chin
Like flawless glittering hail
Onto fingers dancing a slow
Sad solitary waltz
Across a keyboard ballroom,
Leaden with the grief
Of the broken and forsaken,
Hoping the click
Of glass slippers
On silicon chips
Will draw virtual arms
Through ethereal realms,
And she waits,
Features awash
In blue cathode ray-tube hues,
But no cyber-caress comes,
And the golden coach
Is once again
Just a pumpkin.Until she hears
The distinctive digital thunder
Of steel-toed boots
Crashing across a plain
Of plastic lettered stepping stones,
Slamming into the keys
With reckless graceless
Ferocious abandon,
And feels a feral presence,
A familiar blue-eyed
Fiber-optic phantom,
All spikes
And leather
And tattoos,
Storming across the traceless space
Between their minds
To soothe and smooth
Her furrowed brow
And brush away the crystals
Encrusted on her face
Until the falling rain
Of tiny new-born sapphires
Rings like glass wind chimes
As it strikes her desk.
His minds-eye gaze
Hovers over lush green pastures
Like an azure sky of deep, deep summer,
Determined to chase away
Any lingering thunderheads
That still may lurk
Nearby.

How utterly beautiful. I am in awe. Your mind is filled with such beauty tonight. I hope that the green eyed person is uplifted by this elegant tribute of deep caring. You are the best Atticus.
ps( I broke my ankle today. Fell on a mountain.)

Hi Atticus:
This poem really touched me very personally. As one who suffers from pretty severe abandonment issues..."of the broken and forsaken" which I have struggled with it seems my entire life, the second part..."to smooth and soothe her furrowed brow" is a salve to this unwanted, seemingly permanent wound of mine. Plus this poem is so full of love and acceptance, something that I have rarely experienced in a relationship (platonic or romantic) with a man. It's comforting to know that this is the case with a friend and could one day (if I can ratchet down the insecurity) occur in a romance.
your devoted friend,
malthus

Hi Jai,
Thanks for the kind words about the poem, but, omigod, how did you break your ankle? How bad a break is it? Are in a walking cast or on crutches (I've been on crutches after knee surgery, and they make even the simplest tasks, like carrying a few books from one room to another, a huge chore because both hands are occupied)? Drop me a line on Social and let me know how you're holding up. Yowtch! Ta, Sir Edmund Hillary. ;) Atticus, who has to watch out more for potholes than mountains

Hi Malthus,
I'm glad this piece was able to lift your spirits a bit. I'm ferociously loyal to good friends, so your fear of abandonment should never be an issue with me. I look forward to all of our communications, and if I don't answer pretty quickly, something has almost certainly come up on my end that's beyond my control. ;) Atticus
