My oldest sister was trained to succeed in everything she did
That windy night she stood in line at the grocery store
A packet of razor blades in her hand
She thought they all knew what she was thinking
But not a clerk picked up the phone to call about the impending emergency
She walked to the deserted park with voices swirling around her head
A chain clanged against the flagpole as the wind and rain increasedMiles away I was anxious that night and kept going to my front door
Peering out the window into the dark howling night
Tomorrow we would have a turkey and all the holiday warmth
Tonight there was a chill hanging in the room
I closed my eyes and saw blood everywhere
My anxiety was almost too much to containThe call came with the first rays of the sun
She said she dragged herself to the nearest door
The man who answered worked as an EMT for the hospitalMy sister survived that night to be born again to another life
This one on steady ground with meds that worked and lots of emotional support

That was a very beautifully told story of a horrific event. It left quite a sad image in my mind, but also of a miraculous survival.

It was tough to live through and that was only the beginning of a long stay in the State hospital and all the trips to see her and the strange goings on.....
We tried to pay all the bills....she had gone on a manic buying spree. It was too much. But we did it and are alive and happy to talk about it.
Life was/is so good. She celebrates her life after surviving the attempt. To me she does seem like a stronger person.
I always loved her.
She never had to earn my love.
It was/is given freely.
So that's how my big sister survived and I grew inspite of myself.
This is the end of the thread.
