I've been off of Lexapro for 2 weeks now. I was only on it for 5 and a half weeks. I started it for panic attacks and it thrust me into a tailspin of emotions like never before; almost "manic" but not the fun mania. The agitated, depressed beyond belief, weirdness manic.
So I had to stop it.
It's been 2 weeks and I still am having weeping spells throughout the day, utterly depressed like I'm in the darkest pit on earth, and feeling weird in my head still.
How much longer will this take? I am soooooo sick of this and just wish to God I had never put one of those pills in my mouth.
I would take back my panic attacks ANY day over this living nightmare.

In reply to how long for withdrawals; Lexapro?, posted by Spriggy on February 14, 2005, at 22:12:00
Have you talked to your Doctor about the withdrawal? Did you stop cold turkey?
I was on Lexapro for about a year but it was pooping out. That is when my Doctor put me on Effexor. 2 weeks of that was enough so I started weening off. It's been 4 weeks since I stopped the Lexapro and started the Effexor and 5 days since my last Effexor dose. The withdrawal is the worst med experience I have ever had.
I spoke with my Doctor a couple hours ago about my withdrawal symptoms and he said it was definitely from the Effexor as the Lexapro withdrawal should take about a week. He put me back on a low dose Lexapro to get through the withdrawal of Effexor. I took my first pill 1.5 hours ago and some of my symptoms have begun to subside.
You should talk to your Dr. about taking something to help with the withdrawal.

Sorry Dr. Bob, but I didn't see the new "withdrawal" board until I had already posted on the other one. I Can't seem to drop below 5mgm (liquid- which is a bitch on the pocketbook!!) Any advice? Also see other post for today on regular board...GH
