we got 6-7 inches....about 15 cm of snow. It was snowing all day. Sifting down heavily. Quite pretty actually.
It's cold now. 3F or -15C
I'm always aware of street-people on nights like this. :-(

Wow, -15C.
A long time ago I was in Prague and it was that temperature.
We flew from Kuala Lumpur and landed in this outpost of the empire (not expecting the cold!), a wonderland run by evil wizards, and everything had been preserved....you could smell the coal dust, the buildings had chutes for the coal, though we were too late to see the street lamps being lit by hand which may have continued up to the 60s.
It was extraordinary, and the only time I have ever experienced that kind of cold. We went to church at St Vitus in the Old Town, just to see how many people went and if the security services were out and about.
I found it hard to breathe.
Whether from the cold or the drink, or both, my face would not behave itself and I couldn't speak properly.Certainly beats drinking in the heat.

The other day it was in the 20's (F), today it got to 75(F) inside my apartment with all the windows open, in a couple of days its supposed to be a high in the teens. As we say, welcome to Texas.

Where is Kuala Lumpar? ('scuse my ignorance in this matter)
The other night I was talking to a friend in Ottawa, who said it was supposed to be -26C overnight. My memory, being what it is - or isn't - I asked my husband if it gets that cold here & he said oh yeah!> I found it hard to breathe.
~ ~ ~ Yes - the cold can do that - I guess especially if it's way colder than what one is used to. I remember walking to school as a kid with a scarf up over my nose - tied at the back to stay like that. And sometimes the moisture from my breath on the scarf would freeze.

What's your temperature like these days?

That must be very disconcerting. This past summer was very changeable but I don't think we had huge extremes.
You know, I am really getting fed up with my lack of memory. I guess I should take 2 Gingko Biloba's per day for a good period of time & see if it helps.

Kath, I have a terrible memory, too.
Oh, cold weather..My brother lives in Anchorage. He went to a C store after work and told me it was 10 degrees with a 40 mph wind. Yikes!

My spirits pick up in the cold weather.
I'm bad with heat and humidity together.

I guess I'm not all that good with heat AND humidity. It depends on how hot & how humid. If it isn't too hot I'm okay.
25 & humid would probably be okay. 30 & humid probably wouldn't.
:-)) Kath
It's -13C or about 8F tonight

I hear that some people who go to Banff in the winter camp, like in tents.
Maybe they come from Quebec?
When my son was in Banff he went snowboarding in the back country with a bloke from Quebec....
'Ziz is a good cliff to go over', he said before sailing off a 12ft high cliff.

~ ~ Yup - some people DO that! At the Pinery Provincial park, where we've gone in summer for years, there's winter camping. I canNOT imagine it. ~ ~

> Maybe they come from Quebec?~ ~ I think even Ontarians can be crazy enough to winter camp! ~ ~

> 'Ziz is a good cliff to go over', he said before sailing off a 12ft high cliff.~ ~ ~ Yup!! When I was a kid, the people next door - the lady was from Quebec. In summer, her family would come to visit. I LOVED it, because everyone would act like CRAZY people!!! As a kid I just loved it......all the adults would be running around the yard, spraying each other with water-hoses, yelling, shrieking, screaming!! It was CRAZEEEE! They were having SO much uninhibited FUN!!!!
But that 12 foot cliff thing! Yikes.

is probably one of the most beautiful places that I've ever been to. Started at Glacier National Park in Montana and ended in Jasper.Truly, the Icefields Parkway is the premier scenic drive.

I think it was the end of June or the first of July. I know this because we started in Glacier National Park and they didn't open the "Going into the sun" road until June. Everything was so clean--pristine--invigorating. And the Canadians are superb hosts! I advise everyone to see the Glaciers in the Rocky Mountains before they're gone.
