Thanks Phillipa,

Her name is Psycho, I named her that because I think it is hilarious if she ever starts saying that! and is my early Mother's Day gift! I got attached to her so easily when I was in the store, I just had to have her. She is all white with dark eyes and tiny little white eye lashes(feathers?)This birdie can live 20 plus years, so I hope she will be my friend for a long time. I rescued one a long time ago when I was in college and I could never tame him, he would just bite, bite , bite. But psycho is tame and loves to be out of her cage and sit on my shoulder and play with my hair!
My dog (a Keeshound is scared of her and jealous) and our cat seems interested but not much. I am of course in love with it!

Today it sat on my shoulder while I was on the computer and fell asleep! Her cage is right next to my computer desk. (so she will have plenty of company)

And this bird has good taste, loves shiny diamonds, the Beatles and Cat Stevens!

Awesome! Sounds cute, and I LOVE the name! I used to be scared of birds, mainly because I had a friend in high school who had a bird they would let fly around the house, and when I came over it would go right for my big 80's hair like it was a nest or something. But I've since realized they can be very cute and pretty. Plus, I worked for a couple of weeks from hell at Petco (I wouldn't say all are bad, just this particular manager), and I came to feel for even the rats and snakes... although never the insects - especially crickets, I HATE crickets!!! I had to bag them up for people to feed their snakes and every time one jumped on me I would drop the bag and have to start all over! Anyway, I'm getting off topic here. I'd like to see a pic of your bird sometime. Is it one that can talk?

Yes it can learn to talk and whistle songs if taught. They think mine is female which is much quieter than a male so there is a chance she might not talk.
Today I let it take a warm bath in a shallow dish of water, it was sooo cute, if only my daughter had batteries in her camera!
I guess some make a special perch for their bird and they take a shower with them because they love it. I don't think I am going to go that far. lol

But I might buy this harness with a leash and let it help me garden this summer! lol Or maybe she will sit on the dog, because he likes to be wherever I am. One thing I love that she does, is hang upside down when she wants to come out of her cage, to get my attention. It is hilarious.

Having a bird, has taught me about trust and security, almost like an abused child, they will be shy and attach if they feel threatened. Maybe we just understand where each is coming from. lol

I think crickets would freak me out too, my dad used to fish with them. I remember how gross grasshoppers are when they spit at you. I hated that as a kid running through the yard. But I think having transula would be the most terrifying, could never reach into the cage and get one of those for a customer.

I have so many horror stories from the 2 weeks at that job. One day I walked back to bag up some crickets, and the tarantula was sitting besides the cricket tank! I squealed and ran out of there! Then I grabbed one of the teenage boys that worked there and made him go in there (keep in mind I'm assistant manager here) and I said, "Is that what I think it is?" He also squealed and ran out! Turned out, it wasn't the tarantula but his skin he had shed, or something like that. All I know is someone finally showed me it wasn't alive. And that's not even the scariest experience!

One day a guy wanted to look at a scorpion. At this point, everything I did there grossed me out or scared me, but I HAD to have money coming in, so I just kept telling myself, just do it and don't think about it. Bag the crickets, catch the enormous rat and put it in the way too little box so the people can take it home and feed it to their snake, pry apart the frozen rats to give the customer for the same reason (those dead frozen rats REALLY creeped me out!), take the snakes out of their cage and carry them to a customer to look at, and clean up more kinds of poop than you ever knew existed. It was just unbelievably awful! So, when the guy asked to look at the scorpion, I just said to myself, don't think about it, just put the box up to the top, slide the door open, and let it crawl in. Well, as soon as I slid the door open, it immediately slipped between the box and the cage!!! Within seconds was on the floor by my feet! I screamed something like, "Oh God no!!!" To make a long story short, the customer ran back there and caught it for me.

So needless to say, after all those things, birds never scared me again. I WELCOMED getting a bird for a customer! So now I have an appreciation for them. And yours sounds especially cute!!! That's so funny how he hangs upside down to get your attention. And I would love to see it take a bath! Enjoy your new little friend.
