Interesting how women's fashion keeps changing while men's fashion sort-of stays the same. I just giggle looking at how women dressed in the 80s and early 90s. The prominent shoulder-pads, purple eyeliner and "big" frizzy or curly hair, lol! But men seem to stick to the same types of hair style and clothes, more-or-less.

Funny you should mention fashions as a bit of kids clothing selling for me on ebay and when out looking see the 60's crinolines are back for little girls. How uncomfortable. Only changes I see for guys is a more casual work type of dress seems a lot of places have done away with suits and ties and are into polos with logo of company name even the banks. And a lot of places here have Friday as Jean day. I think it's true though about women changing more than men. Phillipa

Believe it or not, the 80's look is coming back in. Maybe not the big hair, but the leggings and all that jazz

Hmmm, no change in male fashion? Sideburns and duck tales, Flock of Seagulls haircuts, long haired tie died Hippies, Mohawks, Punk, the Miami Vice look, Grunge, Goth, Emo, its pretty much an endless list.
It cracks me up to see the young guys these days with their early 80's hair. They look just like guys I knew when I was their age.

I loved leggings with the big sweater overtop..but I'm too old now to wear leggings..they sure look cute on my granddaughter! I'm far from conservative in my dress, but just don't think I could pull the new look off again! Sigh..

MEN'S HAIRCUTS: Luckily I was old enough to be in a class (class of 2002) where my class in high school did NOT wear the retro shaggy haired look these kids are wearing today.
I cannot STAND the shaggy haircuts on kids (most of them guys) these days. I mean it drives me NUTS.
The 70s had to be the WORST for fashion. I think the 80s were cool though, maybe that's because I like 80s music more than anything else.

I never cut my hair at all in the 70s. I don't think we believed in fashion, regarding it (as I still do, perhaps) as some kinda capitalist-driven-commodity-fetish-type-thing. Which was useful because we had no money. Then again everything was very cheap. When my hair became so long it fell in my eyes I used a booby pin to keep it off my forehead. We were all meant to be reading something self-improving. The serious types learned German so they could read Marx in the original.

Aww, that's what I meant by the guys with early 80's hair. Its just so cute to me! I think that's one reason I loved 'Kid Nation', so many boys had these retro long shaggy hair cuts. I just thought it was so cute when these kids didn't even know they were retreading old ground! But since you're younger Michael, I understand why it would annoy you. For me, it just reminds me of those vague memories when I was a kid. You'll understand when in 2028 everyone is being all grunge (or is it Emo), I'm not really sure what your generation qualifies for.

P.S. And forgive me if I'm wrong with the year thing, I'm being very casual here.

Hey, man, the 70's where great. (The little I remember of them because I was just a little kid that decade.) I even had a head of nice thick, slightly longish blonde hair! Ohhh..and how I WEEP for it!..lol. I think I started having thinning hair 'cause my Mom was giving me too many Toni(sp?) perms. Remember those, folks? I looked great in my flooded bell-bottoms, and what where the name of those kids shoes that where named after a dog (I think?) Then I bought my first pair of leather pants in 1978, because my teacher, Mr. Cowan, always wore them, and I saw Alex Lifeson and Rik Emmett and Jimmy Page wearing them. So, ya I thought I would just be uber-cool and the pants would get me in...well you can imagine..ahem...with a girl-girlie-girl! .(Ya., that's what they where at the time...heh.)
But, I wasn't any rockstar, and I was only 9 years old...but those pictures in 'them magazines found in my Dad's closet made me want to go from window shopping to getting in and going for a ride! (A umm..car analogy..of course....cough cough...)
The 80's, to me, where far too over-rated. Reagan, cocaine, nukes, hair-metal (agghh!!!)..American-backed-right-wing-death/terror-squads in Central America...muzak...(more screaming!!!)...really bad porn trying to pass itself off as legit movies (lol!!). One little cool rock band from Ireland saved it all, though. U2. Ya, babyyyy!! Woohoo. ;-)

>Yep...dat is 'dem! :) I have a picture I should put up of me with my Hush's on and my flooded bell-bottoms. Oh, and I am wearing a green cotton button up shirt with the giant oversized collars.
I swear this stuff is all comming back. Oh well..I just stick with my cotton t-shirts and black jeans. Oh, and my Doc's...footwear EVERYONE should wear. Yiipeee...Jay....
