I never cut my hair at all in the 70s. I don't think we believed in fashion, regarding it (as I still do, perhaps) as some kinda capitalist-driven-commodity-fetish-type-thing. Which was useful because we had no money. Then again everything was very cheap. When my hair became so long it fell in my eyes I used a booby pin to keep it off my forehead. We were all meant to be reading something self-improving. The serious types learned German so they could read Marx in the original.
