---Not a happy post---
Lately I've been thinking of terms of "getting my chance" to live my life. My fear that a disaster may end the world has altered my thinking to make me constantly question whether or not I'll get the chance to live out the rest of my life.
Will I get a chance to be old? To live in a stable world where I can pursue my goals? Or was I born too late and the world will enter an era instability or simply will it end soon due to a science experiment gone wrong?
Sometimes when I'm driving around I see some little kid and think, "don't they deserve their chance too?" They aren't even aware of the dangers of this world.
Similar events almost happened within a week of my birth:
http://www.brightstarsound.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_PetrovI live in a city that without a doubt would have been targeted as one of the first to be hit. My city was known as "ground zero" long before 9/11 happened. But we got lucky and we're all still here today.
I hope nothing terrible happens in my life. I don't want to live in a world like what was lived during the Middle (Dark) Ages and the Black Plague that wiped out over half of Europe's population. I don't want some scientist to screw up or the widespread dying of the bees to create some sort of "dark era" of suffering in human history.
I think I deserve to live out my life as most others throughout history have.
I think everyone deserves their chance. Humans today, in my opinion, are much less evil that what has been see in the past. The world is more peaceful now than I think ever. We've done good (or at least tried), I hope God will secure a safe world for us.

.......I hope so too Michael.I find lately that if I can use positive affirmations that sort of say things as if they've already happened, it helps me to be calmer & more positive.
For example, "I love it that my son is healthy, positive, motivated & moving forward with his life"
Even though they aren't anywhere near completely true, it calms me & from what I'm beginning to understand, I think it can actually create positive vibes that will attract those things to happen.I send you warm thoughts Michael,
luv, Kath

Michael I understand your concern with the floods and the horrible things that do happen in real life. I no longer watch the news as it's not healthy to I don't believe. Do you watch it and what or how does it make you feel? And the positive affirmations that Kath uses are a great thing. Love Phillipa

Good point Phillipa.
We don't even have TV, but if we did, I wouldn't watch the news. You've got 2 of your senses being bombarded - sight and hearing.
Radio - hearing only
Newspaper - sight onlyI don't even read the paper any more, but it's more from lack of energy or motivation. I haven't even heard the news on the radio for - hmmm - I'm embarrassed to say, probably weeks - I guess since my camping holiday!
I think watching the news on TV could easily provide a banquet for feeding fears & concerns.

That's exactly what I do. I have pictured myself reading read the news article of a successful testing of the science experiment and the world being fine. I can picture 3 years from now and thinking, "well what happened to the bees dying,? Nothing bad happened!"
I guess fear is just a state of mind. Thanks.

My concern is more with super large problems (bees, science experiments). I really really fear society's technologies have become so advance we risk destroying the Earth.
I do watch the news, it's one of my favorite things to watch. Honestly not much on the news scares me. The news articles about the bees frightened me when they reported it on TV, but other than that I like hearing about what's going on the world. I can hear about a war or a flood without panicking, thankfully.
>>>And the positive affirmations that Kath uses are a great thing.
Yeah, in the past week I've been feeling much better. I'm starting to believe more and more that the magnitude of my worry is very unreasonable.

Michael,
I don't want to get you worrying again, but I didn't hear any more about the bees....just my hubby told me that in the Niagara area, where they're so important for pollinating, there'd been a problem & they thought it was caused by cellphones.
Once again, I hope this doesn't upset you, but I wondered if you'd heard anything else. You don't sound upset about it now.

Thankfully, the bees worry me less than my other worry (a certain science experiment).
But they have not been reporting on it much. When I search for articles lately on Google News, all that seems to come up are small newspapers who are just now hearing about it. You know, the type of articles when you read them you think, "Yeah Mr Journalist, welcome to 6 months ago."
But I found an article about a month ago, and it seems in the places where the bees did not die, those bee keepers are selling their surplus bees for the year to the bee keepers who had their hives wiped out. So it seems they're stocking back up.
I mean the ultimate test is if you go to the grocery store and look at the price of fruit. I mean, no one is paying $5 for an apple yet, so I don't think there is any need to worry. I'm not worrying that much yet. I think it will all blow over.
Even if the bees dramatically started to die off, scientists would come together all over the world to fix the problem. I mean, the world would come together and fix it, I know it. We might have a rough few years, but eventually we'd get back to normal. The bees don't worry me nearly as much as the physics experiment.
This is the end of the thread.
