There are weird clicking noises coming from around my heater vent. I noticed them about 2-3 hours ago, then they stopped. It's almost like someone is hitting it every few seconds (exactly) with a hammer. AND it's not always coming from the same place. IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't have an electronic air cleaner/filter do you? Sometimes mine clicks/zaps more than others.
Which reminds me...it's due to be cleaned. Bleah.
That would drive me crazy, whatever it is. I hope you figure it out soon or that it stops.

If you had said "clanking" noises, I would have said that maybe your heat hasn't been on, and the radiators are reacting to the first infusion of steam.
I'm not sure what the explanation is-- but it happens almost every year when the radiatiors come on the first time. Maybe you need to open the valves all the way-- so the radiator is completely on.
Usually doesn't happen any other time.

my radiator does that too... sooo annoying.. I believe it's the pipe leading to the radiator that makes the noise and it's from the steam opening and closing the little metal flap inside that keeps water from going back down the pipe to the heater.. is this your house or do you rent? If you rent- call that landlord!

I let the guy out and all was good... jj. No idea why they stopped, but they have. I think the heat has been over working in my room these past few days. It's so hot in here ALWAYS. But better that than too cold!
