Declan not back yet?

Posted by pseudoname on July 12, 2006, at 11:16:48

Isn't Declan's block over with now? I just tried to send him a Babblemail but it said

> Sorry, but the recipient seems to have had an email problem. Please go "back" and try again.

So I tried again, but with no success. If you're out there, D, um, Hi.

I was wondering, too. (nm)

Dr. Bob, isn't Declan's block over by now? He can't post yet.

There's two issues. First, his block is over, but the system doesn't check to see if it is or not, and unblock him if it is, until he tries to post again. Second, there was an independent issue with his email. If he's fixed it, he can "update" his registration (even if he doesn't change anything) to clear that.

Well you have killer bees, so maybe we have killer kangaroos. The wallabies here are tame enough. They don't always get off the road in time, but even so there are more around here now than there were 20 years ago.

I saw an artice in the newspaper about a fossil find. They called it a "killer kangaroo."

I did a quick search and found this.

Sounds like the wild turkeys I used to see meander across the road in the woods of Michigan. I swear one of them stared me down and dared me to keep driving. :D

Welcome back.

Tiger Snakes

Once in Tasmania driving in the country, we saw this big black snake on the road. I slowed down, but the snake, instead of being grateful, reared up and advanced toward the car (it was spring), its head 2 and a half feet off the ground, waving about and hissing. I briefly thought of running it over, but remembered those horror stories about snakes wrapped around the undercarriage waiting for you to get out. I guess the snake had decided to take the car on.

So what did you do about the snake? Did you have to turn around? And what are wallabies anyway? Oh, and dingos, what are they?

So there's really a place called Tasmania? Is the Tasmanian Devil real too?

Sorry, apparently I'm question girl today.

G'day TC

The snake reared up, I had a flash of anger but realised that to run over the creature would likely lead to it disappearing into the undercarriage and us being unable to get out of the car. So we stopped and the snake moved on.

At the end of the day everything has to move on these days; I'm waiting for someone to say, 'no bugger it, I will not move on, nor do I have to.'

Tasmania is that island at the bottom of Australia. Down there they have miniature wallabies called potaroos in alpine conditions and nibble on moss. The Tasmanian devil is currently being decimated by a virus. They are badly behaved, but not as bad as us. There was a Tasmanian Tiger, a dingo like marsupial, that is almost certainly extinct.
