How many of you take naps?

Posted by lynn971 on January 1, 2006, at 17:36:21

If I am off, I take a two hour nap. Does anyone else do that?

I do but not voluntarily

It just seems necessary lately. Hmmm could it be that I'm depressed?
Doh!

I am praying for the day when I do not need a nap. I get so tired..... Most people dont understand that I need to sleep. Somebody already told me, "You are going to sleep your life away." That was a very ugly thing to say.

Boy I would love a nap. But I've always felt guilty about them. So I stay up late and sleep late but still need a nap. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi lynn. I'm a big nap-taker. My whole family sleeps a lot. While I do think sometimes it's good to go out and get some exercise instead of be sedentary, I think a shorter nap during the day is healthy they say to re-energize. I may have taken naps to dealing with my hypomanias--racing thoughts--in the past, to calm down.

I know sometimes though, napping too much during the day can keep me from sleeping at night, which isn't good.

my 2 cents, Lucia

I doubt if I have any trouble sleeping tonight.

I can't wait for the day when I dont need a nap.

My brother-in-law recorded a zydeco band and one of the songs was titled "People say I'm lazy but I'm really tired." I told my brother/law that he wrote that song about me. lol

I agree that that was an ugly thing to say. In my regular life before I was in the illness that I am in right now, I really needed 8 to 9 hours a night. I remember some people telling me that that six hours or whatever was enough for anyone. That's crazy. For some people it may be enough, but for many getting that little means chronic exhaustion. Telling someone that they are going to "sleep their life away," is ridiculous especially if they are so tired that they can't enjoy being awake anyway. AND, if you can actually feel refreshed after a nap, that's great, I think. Of course, I understand the desire to need less sleep. And it's hard to know why we are tired sometimes. But I actually envy people who are able to take naps and feel refreshed. If I can manage to take a nap (in my regular life -- totally impossible now with the terror), I almost always wake groggy for hours.
